At last! I can afford a 997 GT3 (at least if the prices don't go up any more in the next couple of weeks). But. And this is a significant "but", I live on a farm and have about 1/4 mile of badly maintained (heavily potholed) gravel track to get down to my house. I can just about get down it in my TVR Chimaera if I go very slowly and weave round the potholes, and that has about 3.5" of clearance (admittedly underneath, rather than at the front). Am I likely to have problems with the GT3? How hard is it to remove the splitter? And is there any good reason why I can't just remove the splitter permanently?

I shall be very sad if I can't get a GT3 down my drive. And no, buying a 997 Mk2 with the hydraulic lift is not an option, and neither is surfacing the track - the last quote we got was £30K and that was 10 years ago.

From what I remember the standard front splitter is just held on by 2 small push clips at the back of the front bumper the rest just pushes into the bumper not sure off the height it stands of road though. cup front splitter is only 70mm off road so you wouldn't want to go a put one of them on !

I'm afraid you will almost certainly have trouble with splitter I grind mine every time I take mine out on local speed humps.
Agree with above post regarding removing splitter you may still have trouble then.
