Bronson or Capra ?

I've just sold my orange five. It had x01 , pikes, crossmax, reverb, etc so a fairly decent spec. Wanting something of similar spec and must be 1x11.
Has anyone ridden a Capra and Bronson c back to back?
The value for money on the Capra is great. And I can wait as I can't ride currently anyway. I'd go for the Capra pro race with the bos suspension. I realise the Capra is more like a nomad. To be honest I think it's too much travel but they don't make a Bronson equivalent. The Bronson seems perfect for me but its expensive. Is it worth it?

Seems a bit pointless to me going for another 10MM travel over the 5 and getting the Bronson, would it really make much difference??? I toyed with buying some 160 forks for my 5 when I went to the Alps but it coped absolutely fine on the 140's. I only rode 1 one the Black runs at Bike Park Wales and wouldn't have minded a bit more travel but the rest of it was fine on 140mm. 150mm seems a weird in between amount of travel. If you want to go bigger do it properly and get the Capra.
My problem with Santa Cruz much like Orange is you can fiddle with the specs, so the Nomad I want is about £8k as I'd want the ENVE wheels and King hubs. Bit like when I ordered my 5 what was a just under £3k bike quickly became a £4k bike, at least with the Capra you've got all the good stuff straight out the box.
Different bikes, far more different than even the specs might lead you to believe. I have ridden both briefly, the Bronson sits right in the middle of everything - it's great in the woods, it's great at trail centres and it's great at places like BPW, the Capra is longer and softer than a bit lost on light XC stuff, but a complete hooligan when it gets rough.
The Capra is an out and out Enduro race bike, Pinkbike reviewed it recently - one of the few media outlets I half trust, it was a glowing review as ever - it's a great bike that deserves all the press it gets - but it's closing bit was along the lines of - "it comes to the obvious question, the one everyone wants to know - which is better the Nomad, or the Capra" they concluded that they were equally brilliant - and the Capra being roughly half the cost of an equivalent SC build has to make it the better bike - but they're not the same - the Nomad is a better all-rounder, it climbs slightly better than the Capra, but when it comes to a balls out rocky fast DH run - the Capra has the edge.
OP the is in the same position as me - but my mate has a really nice Bronson, so I can have one (my mind is funny like that) so I was hell bent on a Capra - but you have to ask yourself, if you've already discounted the Nomad as being too much down and not enough up for the riding you want to do, hence the Bronson, why would you pluck for a bike that more down than up than the Nomad?
It's put me into a real spin, they lessor spec Capras are a tiny bit shorter travel and a tiny bit steeper much should push them more towards an alrounder - but I doubt it's meaningful.
I've decided to put my new bike on the back-burner until the new Evil 650b AM bike is announced, it should be about 150mm travel rather than 170mm and as it been designed by the godfather of almost every multi-pivot frame design in the last 20 years, it should be good - the 26 and 29 versions are pretty amazing, it looks amazing and should do most things very well.

Same here, the Capra Comp 1 - the one I was after comes in at about £2500, which is less than SC want for a Carbon Frame alone (£2800) although oddly for £200 more you can have a basic full build because the frame is *different* (cough - bulls
t) but to get one near Capra spec it's £4k.
I'd guess the new Evil Frame will be £2200-£2500, as nice as they are, I can't justify spunking family holiday on a custom build...

Evil make nice bikes but really not sure on their reliability! Not known for being reliable and plenty of other models fail.
Have you thought about a commencal or Kona Process? Or does it have to be carbon?
I've ridden the Bronson and Nomad and I felt the Nomad was everything i thought the Bronson should have been but with more travel. You feel more sat in, the geometry is longer and is more aggressive.
You just need to ask what, where you ride and why you felt the need to sell the orange.

The orange was a good bike but I'd had a year or so and was getting a bit bored. Wanted a bit more travel, and slacker geometry for the downhill bits. I mainly ride Cannock, pines and in the Peak District. A few Jacobs ladder and rush up edge rides a year. Wanting to go BPW soon but my motorbike accident will probably mean not this year.
Have you considered one of these?

After reading lots of reviews i've decided the capra is too much travel for what i ride.
Looks like a bronson is ideal, but my local shop has suggested a ride on both a 5010 and a bronson.
Haven't looked at solo as its less travel than my orange but apparently its a really good trail bike but i'm not convinced its enough travel personally.

The 5010 is supposedly brilliant, I don't know why it doesn't get the same coverage as the Bronson and the Nomad - but it's a 5" trail bike, the sort of thing that's be THE perfect bike for 90% of UK riding for years and years.Looks like a bronson is ideal, but my local shop has suggested a ride on both a 5010 and a bronson.
