What model of Vauxhall is the upper column off? I know its Vauxhall, which model ( mines 2002 ).
There is slight left to right play before it turns the column. Ive already bought the uj's to replace, but this upper is still an issue.
Cheers

I'm interested to know this too. Mine seems to have play in that upper UJ, I haven't looked too closely yet, but the lower half of that UJ looks like it's fabricated into the column section.

It's a Vectra B column. The joint where the steering wheel angle adjustment happens uses a nylon ball. Mine had worn over the years and meant there was a bit of play so I stuck a new column on.

That lower section is also Vectra B. It's a sliding coupling with UJs at each end.

It is a known weak point on Vectras as well.

Well done Marcus!!

So that upper Uj is integral to the lower vectra B column. I can't see it listed on the usual suspects sites or any pics of it. Can't find any pics of similar columns with that square section, which can be seen if you zoom in on my pic.

I can't find a pic of the Vectra one quickly but it's similar to this.

Edit: This is the vectra one but not a great photo.

Excellent. Thanks very much. I'll probably do it over winter. Need to stop taking the dam car apart and just drive it.

Did you get hold of the lower column by any chance, and if so where from?

Thanks

Yeah I think that's pretty steep so wanted to see if there's any other known sources

I've found this diagram with part numbers..
