Ask PH is live!

Need tyres for your M3? Brakes for your 911? Takeaway for your hangover? We have just the tool...

We all know the PH forums are a mine of useful (or otherwise) information, where the answer to pretty much any question can be found. It could be about a car, or the gym, a book, a holiday destination - you need it, PH knows it.

Problem is, the forum knowledge bank has been quite hard to access and utilise in the past. The search engine wasn't the best, but it's been in for a fettle and has come back blueprinted, bored out, supercharged and raring to go. Modestly we'd describe it as a vast improvement.

Ask PH is like Ask Jeeves but different because it's better than Google. Really. Enter your chosen term at pistonheads.com/search and results can be refined by date, by forum category and by forum poster. They can also be sorted by relevance, the title, the last update time and the number of replies. It's all very swish.

For example, you may want to know more information about the Megane R26.R. There are 648 results via Ask PH, from its motor show debut in 2008 to a Spotted from 2012, a Carpool and the PH Hero. That's on top of the forum discussion from owners, prospective buyers and the 'Show us your REAR END!' contributors.

So far the top Ask PH searches include 'kitchen', 'lease', '640d' and 'Superleggera'. You really can find anything on PistonHeads! But enough of us bigging it up, the true test is in PHers actually, well, testing it. Head to pistonheads.com/search and get asking!

I asked it if the GT86 was fast enough. Apparently it's not.

Otherwise, good show!

When I first tried it, my gripe was the amount of deselecting I had to do - until RacingPete pointed out the Only option which appears when you hover of the forum.

I've seen others complaining but I suspect it's because they've not quite grasped how to use it.

Now that I've got my head round it, it's great. thumbup
