Adverts with sound automatically starting

I know we need adverts to support this site, but recently I've noticed they are small video clips with sound. Makes it a bit awkward when on a conference call or in the office as these start at random times, once loaded, and can be quite loud. Often they are off the page too so it's not so obvious. If we must have these, please mute be default!

Yes I agree.

I tried signing in, but this has not stopped these annoying adverts starting! You cannot mute the first 15 seconds or so and it's very annoying.

Thanks for the feedback, I will look into this to see if we can reduce the set volume and also positioning.
Can you tell me which devices and OS you are using?

I held out installing AdBlock for as long as I could bear, but after these incredibly annoying ads popping up time and time again and PH doing nothing to rectify the situation, I've had AdBlock bliss for several months now!

I'm using Windows 7 PC with Firefox browser. At least with Facebook, they run the add muted to start with, that's the problem, it suddently blasts out!

Reading Ollie's response it looks like PH are now allowing these adds to autostart rather than being rouges...
