I need a full set front and rear for my K7 V-strom 1000 Goldfren are quite cheap and I have found a seller that can post them to France without doubling the cost of the pads. Anyone have any experience of this make?

Dead heat so far then lol. I only usually use the bike for touring with Mrs on the back, I have done a bit more spirited riding on my own the past month or so though.

Any more experiences please?

My Son Insists on them in his Jotagas Trials Bike. They do stop it where others especially in mud won't.

Good - they're half the price of anything else.
Bad - They squealed like crazy. They're fine for around town and controlled/expected stops etc...but it's when I unexpectedly braked heavily that you really notice how poor they are.
I switched back to EBC after a couple of months mainly because the squeal was so annoying (£60 a set on the Blackbird which is a LOT really) - but they are so much better & need less input for the same amount of stopping power.

They are st, I have bought a few bikes that had them fitted and tried them myself on a ZZr1100, its a false economy, why scrimp on brake pads? You might only need the better stopping power of decent pads once but you'll be gkad you spent the extra £30 or so when you do.

used them on the enduro bike - no problem at all. I was using the k5lx compound - it seemed much better than any other brand tried - ebc, etc etc. AD compund not so good - worth checking as they make 11 different compounds

Have used them in the dirtbike several times, fitted them & forgot about them until they wore out.

EBC on the other hand have had the friction material fall off on the XR400 and rattle like mad in the Hayabusa calipers.

Not sure if I'd be brave enough to use Goldfren in the Hayabusa but the rattling EBCs don't half annoy!!

My brother was told to get them by a mate because they were super cheap. When he went to two separate bike shops locally neither stocked them because of how awful they were!

Utterly st, I am pretty crap on a bike but even I was amazed, that after 2 track days id done a set in.

They are st on track and road, I used them for about a month, the last time I had as much problem stopping was when I was trying to kick fags. A light breeze off the sea at Corfu has more stopping power. Scrimping on brakes is a bit like scrimping on contraception, it just takes one mistake to ruin the rest of your life.

For once I actually agree with MTB.

Got them with a bike I bought, s***e! They went straight in the bin and EBC HH went on. They hand no bite and no power.

biggrin Very descriptive.

There are enough people saying they're ste to put me off. I have found a full set of EBC HH for £70, the cheapies were 1/2 that, £35 isn't much compared to being able to stop.

Thanks for all your input.

There are rumours that many Goldfren branded pads are counterfeit, which could explain the disparity in peoples opinions of them if true. However I don't understand why counterfeiters would bother with a relatively small brand like Goldfren rather than go for the big names like Pagid, Mintex, Ferodo etc.

im not really in the know when it comes to brake pads. after the fella above mentioning ebc HH i googled them and it came up with this on sportsbikeshop.co.uk

EBC Double H Brake Pads
EBC Extreme Pro Double H Brake Pads
EBC Kevlar Organic Brake Pads
EBC Semi-Sintered Touring V Brake Pads

So im still none the wiser. What brand and model do people recommend?

Double H are the same spec as most bikes standard pads
Extreme pro (EPFAX) are their best road/track day pad
Kevlar organic are cheapest worst stopping power ones
Semi sintered are a slightly better version of the Kevlar organic

I'm currently about half way through a set of their GPFAX race pads. They are awesome. Really good on the road but once on track with some proper heat in them they are ridiculously good.
