Getting Scammed in Adverts

I have just been contacted by a potential buyer for my car:

However someone has scammed/changed the price and put in their own details. I originally had it up for £3.5k ono the scammer has changed it to £2k for quick sale. Please can someone sort this out. I have also lost the ability to edit my advert

Did you get an email from PH asking you to validate/change your login details recently?

No I haven't changed anything since I started on here over 10 years ago. I have now deleted the scammed advert and re-advertised my car again. Whoever did it had also re-advertised a BMW that I had sold about two years ago too, I have deleted that too.

I deleted the scammed advert this morning and reset it to the correct advert and the scammer has done it again, FFS this is getting ridiculous.

Is in this this advert and the crap at the bottom about I will accept £2000 for quick sale is not my words, do something about this idiot please.

This part is the added rubbish by the scammer:

"Quick sale I am asking for £2000 ono for this lovely car
My contact email : Tomsosed outlook com
My mobile : [phone]
No PX thanks"

I have now had to delete my advert for a second time due to its added scam. I am seriously considering never ever to use PH for advertising any more, its just a waste of time as so many people are using it for scam purposes and obviously your security on this site is crap.

The mods have nothing to do with the classifieds, so don't blame them.

Yep, your password has clearly been obtained by the scammer. Change it to something that's hard to crack.

OK I have changed my password and re-entered the advert again, seems to have done the trick, thanks for you help.

Sorry to hear of the troubles you are having.... I will point one of the classifieds team to have a look into this for you and get back to you.

But as said above, the change of password should have done the trick to stop the scammers coming back. We get a lot of phishing emails (where the scammers try and get the real login and password of users by hosting a site that looks like our login page), so it is possible you have entered this some time ago.

We will never send an email that asks you to verify your details that goes to a login page... and if you do get anything, please make sure you go directly to PistonHeads and not follow any links in emails.
