I know you must get this request lots of times but is there a Ferrari that I could buy now'ish, run for a while and sell it in the late summer without losing very much?

I was thinking of trying to get a 246GT but they're outside my budget since I have a runabout L200 Warrior, a bike and hopefully soon a toy.

If not a Ferrari, what else should I consider?

If you're thinking of running a Ferrari on the cheap... don't... sods law dictates you'll have a major problem and then you've got a HUGE bill on your hands... or a HUGE loss come resale...

Much better to buy a few trackdays with say www.trakshare.com who hire out 360challenge cars.

Or have an emergency budget and get something like a 348/355 which 'shouldn't' loose toooo much.

348/355 was what I was thinking too.

Don't want to run it on the cheap but equally don't want to lose out on depreciation over a few months.

Daily running costs etc are not an issue.

Remember that all dealers will want to make their cut.

Buy any Ferrari from a franchised dealer and immediately ask them to take it back in PX and you'd loose £10k, sure a independant dealer will take less of a cut but they do need to earn a crust.

And the number of people who will spend £50k plus privately you can count on one hand, everyone wants a warranty so the go to a dealer of some sort.

Ergo, IMHO good theory but it can't be done in reality.

Very fair point and I hadn't thought of that.

There are plenty of 40-42K early 355's out there from traders. They should'nt go down much more.

you will however lose the dealer margin.

Get a 348 GTS or GTB in LHD and red. It shouldn't cost you too much, under £30k , and in red helps it that bit when you come to sell it.

As long as it has full Ferrari or respected independent service history then buying private wouldn't worry me. Especially if it is coming from a P.Header or, more than likely from Ferrarichat.com or the Owners Club.
