Alarm service required

Diagnosed as failed alarm sounder, tucked behind the nearside rear wheel arch liner. After 8 years, the internal battery had leaked, and the acid had destroyed some tracks of the printed circuit board (I cut it open to confirm). Lots of info on the Volvo forum. System reset as soon as the new unit fitted. Good service from Aston Martin Bits. Easy to change in 15 minutes max. using instructions from 6speed online.

I need to replace the alarm sounder (Aston part 4G43-37-10655 / FoMoCo part ALARM SIREN 6G9N-19G229-DE ) on my DB9. There is great information on the replacement task, but not so much on the sourcing of the part. It seems this was a very common part on a number of vehicles other than Astons, including Volvos and Mazdas, but is now obsolete, so only to be found at a high price from places like astonmartinbits, or second hand on ebay. Given the propensity of these units to fail, buying second hand does not seem like a smart option, but..I would have thought there would be a grey market replacement or similar by now. What do all those Mazda 6 owners do when this part fails on their vehicles?

Just picked up this thread as i am confused by the replacement part too - as there seems to be a number of parts listed on e.g. Scuderia, which vary massively in price. Local dealer said the original part went out of production, hence huge cost/delays to get, but a newer version had now been produced.
