My old and faithful SKX007 perished the other year, it fell off the worktop and landed on the tiled floor, since that day it demonstrated some very peculiar inaccuracies to the point of it being laid to rest in the kitchen drawer.
I took it out today and set it in sync with my Traser Quartz at 15:00. At time of writing it has gained 10 minutes and 40 seconds. However, in the crazy world of wrist watches, if it is standing up or on my wrist it loses time to the tune of 5 seconds a minute, but laid down next to the Traser on a flat surface it gains time to the tune of 3 seconds a minute approx.

Regardless, my emotional attachment to the watch is considerable. I've been quoted £140 for a Seiko service, when a replacement from Creation is £130. Tbh I'd rather pay the £140, daft as it sounds.

Can anyone suggest a cheaper fix, I felt the gentleman at the "Key repair / Watch service" stand was bullstting me, effectively sending it to Seiko and charging me cash for the privilege.

If anyone on this forum can repair it, I'll pay for recorded delivery to and from, plus the cost of repair and the difference to £140 as a donation to Help 4 Heroes. Failing that, any ideas where I might get it fixed would be gratefully received.

Cheers
Pete

ps sorry for the typo in the title, should get the grammar Nazis excited. (since fixed by helpful mods)

The immediate problem will be either the hairspring hooked up (not so likely if it's losing sometimes) or a damaged balance staff. Either way, not a huge problem on those and you have mail smile
