Breitling Colt crown troubles
Discussion
Hello,
my Breitling Colt(74350) has been damaged (don't let your wife to play with you watch..) and I'm looking for good quality service. Simply the watch runs but crown can't be pushed and screwed in. Time can be setup just in backwards way, date setup works correctly. As I'm Czech Republic located I went to official Breitling service here (Dusak) and they offered me whole new case and maintenance service (including polishing) for roughly 800USD what I believe is absolutely crazy. Can you help to find solution for "normal" money?
Thanks a lot
Mickeycz

Hi,
Currently i'm not taking watches in as i am just about to start chemo again and will be hard pushed
It's only a 3 to 4 month blip i hope so will be back on the watch repair game sooner rather than later.
I can recommend Variomatic as suggested above. Ive used him for bits and bobs when my own guy was unable to work due to injury.

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys
Mickey, it's not a big job to fit a new crown although, from the symptoms, it may not need one. Particularly the time only setting backwards suggests that it may simply be that the existing crown is unscrewing from the stem.
That means that, when you push it in and try to screw it down, the stem is too long (because it's unscrewed a bit) and it won't catch on the threads. Without seeing the watch that's only guesswork, but it fits the description you've given.
Sadly, Breitling and other swatch Group brands quoting for a full new case + service is, unfortunately, not unusual in situations like this!
