Can anyone tell me where i can the hose that runs from the oil pump to the sump for a 97 rhd 355 spider. Main dealer quoting £701 for what looks like a washing machine hose to me.

Hose is approx one and a haf inch deep and two feet long. It has tapered ends that have nuts fitted to each end. Middle section is aluminium and end sections metalic flexi hose.

Apparently cannot be fabricated as is unusual gauge.

Does anyone sell genuine parts cheaper than main dealer? Has anyone got a hose from a salvage?

Have you tried giving Verdi etc a call?

I think you're going to be out of luck though, as these "odd" parts only come from F-UK and they charge what they want.

As an example, I believe they seriously hiked tensioner bearings last year, and that knocks everyone, even the indie servicing agents.

You answered your own question in part when you noted that the fittings are not standard gauge. Lovely.

Scrappies might have one, but you'll be very lucky I would think.

Is the 701 quid definitely the part alone?

Incidentally - i tried to claim under an AA waranty i have which also covers wear & tear(not tyres & brakes). AA said they would not pay up without a patrol vehicle visit. Patrol vehicle said would not visit because car was already in a garage. Told them i would move car and then ring them - they said that they still wont visit cos claim had been logged.

lesson learnt - let you car blow up before you ring the AA - ignore all of the warning sigs.

That is a disturbing website. Too many wrecked cars in one place is bound to turn my stomach. Interesting to have a wonder around though me thinks.

£701!!! They are taking the piss!!! How much for a hose clip? £200???

I paid £12 for a 2" Bolt - welcome to ferrari!! They also wanted £350 per interior door step (aka sardine can metal)which should then be stuck on with bubble gum.Decided to get repro carbon fibre ones in the end £300 per set, nice, but still too bloody exp in my opinion.

All this and ferrari still reckon they made a loss in 2004!!! I reckon a valve cap could fetch up to £650 on the antiques roadshow.

You could always get a hose made up. I've used a company in High Wycombe called Spectrum Hoses for various odd hoses with custom end connectors. Take the old hose in and they'll make a new one (assuming they have the right ends - I know f-cars can be, er, exotic).

try QV in Ascot 01344 622011, they may well have a second hand one if they can't help get the old pipe and take it to one of the Pirtek franchises, they will be able to do it
