A true story I thought I would pass on to you guys as a bit of a warning....

A guy I know quite well was recently involved in a traffic situation which resulted in him (29 year old male) and the other motorist (58 year old male) getting out of their cars to exchange words. The other guy hit the fella I know, but didnt get a decent shot in. The guy I know (who is quite small) responded by chinning the older guy. The old fella went down like a sack of spuds, with a broken jaw and nose.

No witness to the first punch (old guy), only to the second. End result is the younger guy gets charged with ABH and goes down for a year.

he had a good job, girlfriend, the lot and was one of the nicest blokes you could meet. Now his life is wrecked.

He'll probably do 6 months but is in a tough prison. Seems the courts are clamping down on road rage and the guy in question really got nailed, probably because he was younger and the injuries caused...

Scarey.

Makes you wonder what the other guy thinks about his actions - surely if he has an ounce of decency he woud withdraw any accusations against the younger guy, knowing he started it. OK, so maybe he wouldn't please guilty himself, but to make the guy go down for retaliating.

Ouch!! He must pack one helluva chin to break the guys jaw and nose! Bugger of a sentence tho.

Pity about the lack of witnesses - any idea how they missed the first punch but saw the chinning, as things like that normally happen really quickly...

Personally the only reason I'd get out of the car these days is if there's been metal on metal....... too many nutters out there.

Very scary to hear how easily and quickly a person's life can be irrevocably changed. I'm too scared to go out any more.

Not making light of a bad situation but looking on the bright side, if he passes those months in the gym and with a decent a manager he could have a reasonable career as a light/middle-weight when he gets out Rich...

Yeah, he's obviously alot tougher than previously thought!

Re: the witnesses thing, I think (but am not sure) that there was only one witness and he just didnt see the first punch and could therefore not show that the jawbreaker was retaliatory.
