So I have a pair of very nice comefortable seats in the my 1996 caterham 1.6, but the seat just feels like it's a bit to big, to much padding. My left hand hits my thigh when turning corners. Any recomondations as to new seats or ways of lowering the ones I have.

Tillet style seats would drop you a bit, or you could fit a lowered floor and keep the same seat.

I think people have taken the base out and used two-part foam to make a new seat base before now. Might be worth a go, but avoid the inevitable canoe incident. I've also tried the opposite. Make a foam layer on top of the seat base for short people (aka kids) to drive the 7.

I fitted the GRP Tillet-a-likes. Real Tilletts not really justifiable in a grotty old Crossflow.
Worked a treat. Lower and further back in the car. Kept the bouncy seat on the passenger side for Mrs CK though.

Thank you every one. I think the tillet seats are the way to go, and as much as I aggre, and think keeping one soft seat for the missus is a great idea, the little bit of OCD I have, tells me they have to be the same. She will just have to get used to it.

I have the Tillet seats in my car, if I was going to switch to these I would try and sit in a car with them to make sure that I and any regular passengers fit them and find them comfortable.

I find them comfortable for two hours plus but am more athletic than powerfully built and only just fit in them. If you do get them a middle ground for your OCD may be to get the Tillet seat pads (see Ebay) for the passenger seat.
