Starting issue...

Had a recent issue with hot and cold starting a k series car.
Traced everything through and I think it's the external battery cut off switch playing up.
The key seats and twists through 90 degrees clockwise. By doing it slowly it seems to make a good contact between about 65 and 85 degrees (I can hear the fuel pump priming the system). Continue the twist home to 90 degrees and it seems the contact is lost.. Tried my spare red key and same thing.
Anyone else had this? A simple case of replacing the battery cut off housing or am I missing something?
