Hi all. I've a fairly stock mk1 non-S, it has red callipers which I don't like, so would like to re-colour them. (Just thinking out loud the painted callipers wouldn't denote a RR or anything like that, as I have a feeling they were red from the factory?)

So- I'd like to have them powder coated, but there are a lot of mixed reviews on powder coating callipers online, anyone have first hand experience on here? If not I'll try to find a paint colour I like.

Secondly, the front discs look too small inside the 18" spiders, so I'd like to fit larger (322mm?) discs and space the callipers out. I know the discs are available from TVR Parts etc, but I also know they are a couple of kilo's heavier than the small std ones. Apart from full on floating discs with alloy bells, has anyone any lighter suggestions?

Thanks,
TC

I sent my calipers off to God speed brakes to be refurbed and repainted in blue. Great service. http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/content/8-recondit...

I've just bought the 330mm discs from Brummmie (Paul Chance) to replace my 291mm front discs. Not sure about the weight but they have got good reviews on PH. Great price too. http://www.clbraking.co.uk/

Cool thanks, I've just realised that my callipers have the long cap head bolt that retains the pads and have heard that that type may not be able to take the larger discs, more research needed!

Mine has the long cap head bolt too. m10x1.25x75 ? As long as you have the CP 5200 with a six bolt body NOT four bolts, you should be fine.

TC parts of this thread may help and shown you what a larger disc 330 look like inside an 18" alloy. Also link to Paul who supplied them.

Are these the same as yours??

If so you most certainly can go bigger, more so in fact than the later callipers as these can take 330mm as appose to 322mm with the later ones. Here are mine fitted that I bought from Brummie (CL Brakes)...

I had my cam cover coated a beautiful cadbury purple, and fancy my callipers the same, goes well with the gunmetal grey colour of my Tuscan smile

Nearly all are cleaner than mine! Well, maybe not so much since having a respray, but then most don't experience the pleasure of using them as a daily & being delivered to work in it every single day! spin
