I'm interested to hear people's views on items such as PCCBs and the folding bucket seats/ clubsport spec in particular.

My last GT3 was a 996.1 with fixed buckets and on trackdays I was completely fixed in position with the harness and I would want to enjoy the Ring and Spa as well as road driving in a 991, so wondering if a non clubsport with adaptive sports seats would be good enough??

Also how about the brakes - are the standard brakes good enough? Would they be fine with an updated pad like RS29s as I used to use in my 996? Or are PCCBs a must??

Questions, questions, but very keen to hear of some experiences smile

Unless you are super skinny and can 'pump up' the side bolsters on the adaptive seats to the max, they won't really hold you in anywhere near enough considering the gforces these cars can generate. Fixed or sports buckets (for the slightly wider of 4rse!) are must haves if you will track. Clubsport spec with the harnesses obviously even better.

Standard steel brakes on the 991 are more than adequate now, and some argue preferable given cost of replacing PCCBs. However, weight saving per corner with PCCBs and their longevity are persuasive arguments in favour of these. Normal road use plus a few track days per year and your PCCBs should last fine. Worth noting that companies like SICOM can now apparently refurbish your worn PCCB discs to better than OEM standard, at c.30% of the cost of buying replacements.

In other words, if I was buying a GT3, I'd want the full-phat version :-)

Haha, like you I thought the very same, especially after owning my K400 996 GT3 for so long, but a recent drive in a 991 GT3 made me forget all about it.... smile

Same for me, and I'd also chose the same again.

The only thing I'd maybe do differently is go Clubsport and then store the cage and harnesses until I needed them.

I've had two 991 GT3 - both had Clubsport pack with buckets, and front lift (i cant live without it in Mid Wales). I had steel brakes on the first car, and PCCBs on the 2nd, and I preferred them.

So you asked about buckets and PCCB specifically - I did several long journeys with buckets, including 1100 miles in one hit, and found them great. The PCCB brakes do feel more consistent in their feel on track, and the lack of brake dust is welcome. Having said that, the standard steel brakes are fine

So if I was to spec another car, I'd choose clubsport, buckets, and PCCB.....

I took a cancelled order so had choice over spec. As such, no buckets, but have to say i've found the electric sports seats very good (they feel more like buckets than the sports seats in my 997 GT3) and have found them fine on track too.
