When buying from an independent or main dealer, how much do they expect buyers to haggle in term of perentage of the initial asking price?

Depends how aggressive the sticker price is.

It also depends how long they've had the cars on their books.

Main dealers usually have more room to move, and also want to sit on stock less long. They're also less likely to have cars on SOR.

Know how much you can get cars for from various sources and take a punt. Not sure on the cars you're looking at as they look about right ball park, but a few k can't hurt - they can only say no

On a 1997 355, what do you think an extra 25T miles on the odometer is worth in price?

It entirely depends on how that 25k has affected the car's condition nd what you want it for.

If it's been rigorously serviced, no expense spared, and the interior isn't looking tired, then not much at all.

If these things don't apply, then it will affect it massively to the point that it's going to have to be very cheap to sell it.

Also, do you intend to keep it? Is it a brief flirtation? How many miles will you add yourself?

Ferrari's are very sensitive to miles. It matters not if the cars can take it if serviced properly, the "general" market doesn't like high mileage Ferraris. I would say your "average" 355 probably has around 18-25k on the clock at the moment, which kind of puts an additional 25k into perspective. But there are examples with more per year (mine for a start! Though it didn't have when I bought it).

This attitude may change over time. But it could take a long time to change. If you're into the car for a good while, then it matters not. But if you're not, be careful.

BTW, put another way I don't think I've heard of *any* RHD 355 go for less than 40k (excluding what dealers may be able to get away with!).

I could be wrong as I'm not exactly in the market for one right now, but I can't see that moving much more than 5k inside the next 12mths. There'll simply be too many people wanting a well looked after car at that sort of level.

current ondition:
(1) seats showing some wear,
(2) dashboard leather shrinkage will be taken care of
(3) some maRkes on the doors

I intend to keep it no more than 2years, with around 2-3T per year usage.

I saw another 355, same condition, 22T, but 95M reg and yellow/black for around £41K. I'd like to figure out how much premium is fair between the two.

Also, any idea how much it would cost to have the interior of the car properly touched up?

If all those bits are interior, then shouldn't cost the earth.

I believe you can have the interior "reconnollised" for a couple of hundre quid, but have never had it done myself.

Leather shrinkage isn't uncommon. No idea how much to fix it.

I would be *very* surprised if you lost more than 10% a year on it, probably a good chunk yet (still doubt they'll be much less than 35k in 2yrs).

The 41k was yellow though. If someone is looking specifically for a yellow car, you may be quids in, but this will be many people's first Ferrari (especially at this price), so red is safest. May ultimately not make much difference to resale price, but is likely to determine how cuik you offload it.

You need to get out there and get into a couple of cars to see how they drive.

I've test driven a few f-cars. Must admit I couldn't notice any difference between cars of the same model. Not sure if 5minutes of test driving can show a newbie such as myself much.

An early 355 .I think there is £5K differnce in price between a 50K miler and a 25K miler when selling to the trade.
