Any suggestions?

Stayed in Bournemouth last time and travelled in via the new forest

Passed a great village that had a good few pubs in, but forgot name!

Cheers

no where cheap really nearby, but Christchurch, or southampton will have premier Inns and Travelodges.

Burley is a nice village with nice pubs?

If you're after quality, the best places in the forest are:

Lime Wood
The Pig
The Mill at Gordleton

Even if you don't stay at any of them, they're all worth a visit for just a walk round or for dinner. They are all absolutely fantastic.

You can stay at The Montagu Arms in Beaulieu, it has a Mitchelin Star restaurant which is very good.

Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington all have loads of B&Bs and hotels. Limewood just outside Lyndhurst is a lovely hotel, never stayed but water there many times.

Middling is Careys Manor if you like a good spa, revamped restaurant is pretty good too.
Top draw is Chewton Glen near Christchurch, pretty expensive but unsurpassed service.

Personally I'd rate Lime Wood above Careys Manor and Chewton Glen. The spa at Lime Wood is very good. I wasn't that impressed with Careys Manor.

My girlfriend works at Lime Wood so we stay and eat there (and The Pig) quite a bit. It's always perfect. Although I am biased!

Had our first meal at Hotel Terravina, near Netley Marsh last week.

really enjoyed it, excellent service and not too pricey, more intimate than Lime Wood also.

Looks like a nice place to stay.

Never stayed at Lime Wood, if it's better than Chewton Glen it must be very special, I'll look it up with a view to trying it.

I suppose whether it's better or not is a matter of opinion. I prefer the style, the look and the atmosphere, and (apparently) the spa is better at Lime Wood (according to my girlfriend!). It's different to Chewton Glen, but the high standard is the same.

To be fair, the last room we stayed in was usually £850 a night, so it was pretty good! biggrin
