Brake levers for little hands.

After selling our daughter's Islabike and getting a small ladies bike for our 10 year old, I thought everything would be hunky dory.

But, after going out the other day, she did say it was hard to reach the brake levers.

Assuming that the brakes on her cheapo Halfords bike aren't anything out of the ordinary, can I just swap the levers for something like this without changing any other parts? OR is there something else to worry about like pull ratios?

Just noticed the product description says for use with 20" to 24" wheels. Will they not fit on 26" then?

Will work fine. Some reach adjust too via the wee allen key bolts.

Might have to have a proper look at hers to see if there's any reach adjustment on those before ordering.

When it comes to cable pull, you basically get long pull (for vee brakes) and short pull (for cantis/side-pulls etc.)

Long pull lever + short pull brake will be very grabby
Short pull lever + long pull brake will barely work and feel mushy

In short, it's best not to mix types. Assuming the bike you've just bought has vees, any long pull lever will work. Some levers can be switched between brake types.

Just to bring this to a conclusion, I did adjust her current brakes and it's a pretty good solution.

As she gets bigger, I'll have to keep adjusting them.
