Given all the 'interesting' weather we've been having lately, I'd be fascinated to know how long it takes from sitting in the drivers seat to back sitting in the drivers seat to get the hood up on various cars when it starts persisting down (like it is here right now). Power hoods excluded, naturally...It seems that the tw@ts on TV shows always take ages - but we're practised, we are - aren't we?

I'll start the ball rolling with 27 seconds on a TVR Griff 500...

Don't you mean if it is still raining?

Approx 20 seconds, in my barchetta.

206CC: about 20 seconds to press and hold the roof button.

Then, about 3 minutes to get through to "Peugeot Assist" on the mobile, approx 2 hours for them to send someone out to help you, then a further week back at the dealer fixing the "clever" roof. Again.

I claim the record. 2CV. 5 seconds. Drive along, unfasten catches above the windscreen, let the wind do the rest.

stop get out - get in boot - get one side out rest in in slots in roof bar, passenger side - walk round car - get other side out rest in slots in roof bar, drivers - overlapping first - lift roof together to locate in screen slots - push up roof strut, drivers - walk round car - push up second roof strut, passengers - sit in drivers seat locate roof clips - drive away

if on motorway keep over 70mph until you reach flyover then do it at your leasure nerf nerf

TVR S1 so probably the same as Ted

Mind you I only took my roof off if it was nice not like these nutters who take the roof off anytime as long as its not raining. Im talking about the guys and gals who have theirs off in the middle of winter. Its like oh there is ice on the road and it cold enough to freeze antifreeze but its not raining so take the roof off.

Mind you there was a situation in December when I had no roof (long story) on my S1 and had a girl in the car. Every time I touched the throttle the car stepped sideways and she loved it either that of the grin on her face had frozen there.

I remember when i had the Chim racing along with a M3 convertable one Sunday morning. The heavens opened, we both pulled onto hard shoulder. The race was on. he pressed some little button, and waited.

I ran round back of car, undid boot, removed strap holding roof, put roof on, pushed stays into place..

his roof was just settling as i went to pull away, stalled it, and blew the fuel pump fuse.

And no, he didnt stop and ask if i needed help!!!!

(suffice to say i now have a Cerbera. its easier!)

Open boot - get roof - slot roof into position - get in car - waggle roof into place - raise rear hood - push stays into place. Takes less than a minute(Chimaera).

What you put the roof on when it rains?!
I did it in about 20-30 seconds today, don't know why I bothered. Was already soaked.

No hood, no doors, no windscreen.
1 second (or less!) to deploy trusty umbrella - not much use over 5mph tho!

Speed up, rain goes straight over. Don't slow down.
(Chimaera 500)

You get lots of stares from other motorists though, but you end up grinning like an idiot.
