I was in Mallorca a couple of weeks ago and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for some early season sun. Great roads, great weather, friendly people (even the motorists) and amazing cycling.

Where did you stay? I've found Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia good for cycling with easy access to the Cap De Formentor.

I'm wary about taking my bike again since I saw a baggage handler at Liverpool airport use my bike bag as a step to get onto the conveyor belt to access the aircraft! Luckily the only damage was a scratch and a slightly buckled wheel!

We stayed in Puerto Pollensa - as you say perfect location and always good to end the day in Tolo's with a cold beer!
Took my own bike this time and invested in a Bike Box Alan for exactly the reason you described.

If you use a bike bag then you really can't expect anything less. How they manage to sell those poxy things I have no idea, who in their right mind sticks an expensive bike in a bag vs a box? Mental.

It was 12 years ago before boxes were readily available.

Got back from Puerto Pollensa yday! - fantastic week out there, not too much riding as the lads had our wives / g/f's with us, but more than enough for a relaxing week in the sunshine!
Highly recommend it - much prefer it to the alps as you can smash yourself to bits on pretty much every climb if you want too as they are that little bit shorter than the alps, plus you can make a nice loop rather than an up, and then straight back down!
