RHD Ferrari 456M Manual intro and numbers question.
Discussion
Hi Guys
I have been hanging around here for a while and recently I bought a 2000 Ferrari RHD 456M Manual.
Nice colour combination Titanium Grey with a Burgundy red interior.
This was one of those I walked into a classic car place one lunch time and bought a car stories. I didn't plan to buy a car honest. well I wasn't planning on that day, call right car right time..
The car I have since discovered is one of only 33-4?? RHD Manual M's in existence.
All the Aussie Ferrari's at that time were ordered through Maranello sales in the UK.
I have read there is 31 Ms in the UK so you can understand I am very keen to locate the rest or even identify if this is the only one in Australia.
The Australia Ferrari club has 5 Ms on there register and 4 are Autos.
Any suggestions
Graeme

I think you are slightly incorrect. There were 33 456 M GT (i.e. manual) cars supplied new to the UK. There were an additional number (at least 2 that I know of) supplied new to Australia. Australian delivered cars will have a VIN with eighth character D and UK (and other RHD markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore or South Africa) will have a VIN with eighth character C. I thought that Maranello Concessionaires stopped being the Australian importer prior to the 456 M but I may be wrong about that.

That is a great help and yess the Aussie vins have 44D designating manual RHD
I am reliably informed Maranellos were suppling cars up late 2004 the second year of the 612.
There are 5 456M Autos or 50Ds known to the Ferrari club.
I am chasing a guy locally who knows where the secret stash of info is but hes "too busy" The data out there suggest there were only 33 RHD Ms does any one know how I can confirm the numbers and from what your saying there is 35?

It is entirely possible that Maranello's were still the Australian importer up to 2004 so I am happy to accept your reliable source on that. That is a great help and yess the Aussie vins have 44D designating manual RHD

There is often confusion about RHD numbers because various brochures published by Maranello's and Maranello's Archive in the UK quote UK RHD numbers. People then take them to mean RHD worldwide which they are not and they then get quoted around as if they are. According to Maranello's there were 33 456 M GT supplied new to the UK in RHD. There were a number of others supplied new to Australia and, no doubt, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa etc. I don't know the totals for the other RHD markets although the UK is by far the biggest RHD market and so you can reasonably assume that the grand total for all RHD markets will be somewhat less that twice the UK total.

Out of curiosity have the figures quoted for cars delivered to the UK take into account the 66 44C and 50c Spec GTs owned by the Sultan of Brunei been factored in. he owns 83 456s including a lot of one offs.

if you click on the 456 links it gives VIN numbers!!

The UK delivery figures include those cars for Brunei that were ordered in the UK (some of which, including a couple of the Venice specials, are now back or still in the UK). I believe none of the Brunei 456s were Ms. http://wikicars.org/en/List_of_The_Sultan_of_Brune...
