front delraileur set up

i have the SRAM double tap gear change on my bike and the front derailuer is proving to be a pain in the arse

Ive just had the bike in to a specialist who gave it the basic service and changed the front gear cable and set up the gears I ride 4 miles with it and the gear cable comes out of the deraileur as if it wasnt tight.

I put the cable back in at the side of the road and now it wont change up once home i tried adjusting it and i can get it to change up but i get the chain rubbing and when i adjust it to stop the chain rub it wont change up

its really starting to piss me off now, I have the 81mile etape in 2 weeks so i want the bike perfect so i have no issues doing the cycle

any help or advice how to get this working properly would be greatly appreicated

If it was the lesser of the aggravation evils i'd take it back to the shop for setting up again given they didn't appear to tighten it up properly after changing the cables.

i agree however im of the opinion if you want something done right do it yourself and the shop had their chance and im reluctant to go back.
