You can't compare quotes on an absolute basis as it very much depends on where the car is stored. Every street will be priced differently so I don't think anyone else telling you what theirs cost will be comparable.

Why is it more expensive with a tracker?

Seems expensive but as others have said it'll depend on individual circumstances.

Thanks. I wasn't really expecting everyone else to post up a detailed analysis of their unique situation and insurance costs.

Was really just looking for some friendly advice from those with similar cars as to whether they think this is reasonable or not.

Tracker not needed it seems.

OK, so I normally use GoCompare to shop for insurance for my 2003 Comfort 6.2. (I'm 50 odd, clean licence, living in the shires, car always garaged, social only etc.) I just found out that my old Tracker Monitor on renewal is out of date and no longer supported. Tracker tell me I will need a new one fitted in the form of a replacement Tracker Monitor or the more expensive Tracker Locate.

My insurance runs out 31 May so I go on Go Compare to see what affect the Tracker will have on a fairly basic policy. I upgrade the value from 45 to 70 and try options with and without a Tracker fitted. I hereby submit to the group my results. Interesting that the premiums vary little.

Thanks goat rider.

Yes mine is usually around £350 with Admiral. So it seems that the 5 x trackday cover makes up the additional premium. Which actually seems reasonable value. The reason for changing insurance now is that I'm off to Spa for 2 days next month and I really want some cover (along with a low excess) so I guess the hike in price is justifiable on that basis. Plus I then have 3 remaining days cover available to use for the rest of the season too.....

Is that 60k 'agreed value' or just declared that its worth that.

Ive just moved from CCI (Towergate) to Manning because CCI said they wouldn't/cant provide agreed value.

Just thought it was worth mentioning in case there was some confusion.

Give Competition Car Insurance a try. They have limited track day cover as standard.

Well mine is £1750 with 3 track days with Footman James £65k valuation (not agreed val) so yours is very cheap in comparison. I've had quotes of over £23.5k because of the cage I've had fitted smile

Why do you want agreed value on something that's appreciating ? I'd want market value in 10mtys time if the worst happened not what it's worth now ??

CCI told me it has to have a tracker above 50K last month, mine is due for renewal next month, so interesting to see they're now not requiring tracker.

Mine is on Admiral multicar with my other 2 daily drivers, but in the breakdown its under 400 quid.
I had to have a new tracker also as mine was out of date, I didn't know anything about this until I asked them to re instate it, was told they couldn't.!! Its too old was the reply.
Still the new one was only £129 quid to install and I did the 1 off payment of £399 for the lifetime of ownership subscription.
As far as value goes I was told by Admiral its market value/cost to replace vehicle in the event of total loss.

This quote was from CCI.

It's not agreed value but as has been pointed out market value works in my favour as things stand.

They told to me all cars over £40k need a tracker, or if not the premium is +£100 PA.

A cage makes no odds to the premium at all, they just wanted to know current bhp (which is factory in mine).

The whole process was really easy. There is a quote form on their website, I filled it in, emailed it off and then got a call/email with the price the following day.

Hope this helps.
