Afternoon all,

I'm looking for a little insight regarding my 996 turbo.
In short I'm currently replacing my starter motor, disconnecting the battery in the process.

Now the supplier has just called me to tell me that the replacement won't be in for 3-4 days.
Is it o.k to leave the battery disconnected for this length of time?
(wasn't sure if there was some form of battery back up of some systems etc)

On a side note eurocar parts wanted around £300 for a replacement starter.
I've managed to locate the Bosch part no (0986022870) and it's £120+vat from my local Bosch dealer for the identical part.

Thanks in advance

Won't hurt anything.

After you reconnect the new battery you'll have to reset the window limits and calibrate the E-Gas.

The steps are for all are in the owners manual.

IIRC, for the windows using the lower button lower the window completely. Release the button. Using the raise button raise the window and continue holding the button down for 5 seconds after the window is all the way up. Done.

Repeat for the other side.

For the E-Gas, with the key off and your foot off the gas pedal and throughout the process, turn the key to the on position and leave on for 60 seconds. Then turn the key off for at least 10 seconds. Done.

The next time you start the engine the E-Gas is calibrated.
