Hybrid approx £300

So looking for a new bike mainly bit of road , canal path use and have seen three that seem to fit the bill and just wondered which brands are better? Halfords have a voodoo Marusa , b twin one from decathlon or a giant explorer I think it was is the third one I saw from Evans cycles so any thoughts?

I commute on a Kona Dew on the terrain you described, might be able to get a reduced one for £300

Loads of good bike for that price. Pinacle and Charge have some good models too

Ok thanks will look into them, are the halfords stuff too be avoided at that price range ?

at that price point, i'd look at 2nd hand bikes.

a few years back i picked up a trek 7.3fx for £175 (was around 500 new). then last year, bought a trek neko s (women's hybrid) which had only been used 3 times for £150 (450 new).

you'll get a much better used bike, than new.

I've had a Carrera Subway Ltd edition (Ltd meant less spec!)

Had it a few years now, it's my wet weather n winter commuter now and it's been great.

Original cassette, chain and tyres didn't last long but it's been great since, highly recommend Schwalbe Citijet tyres for your sort of use, quick in road, good for punctures and gave still gripped for me in deep mud On a towpath.

No
Halfords & French equivalent Decathlon will most likely offer the best option.
Sure 2nd hand is good if not abused & on your doorstep. IE not likely.
