6.1 GT3 - I am considering changing my now very rattly floating brembos to fixed as I'm not planning on doing lots of track days. I'm planning to do several Euro road trips this year so could do without the rattling. The existing ones have been on the car for 15k miles and around 6 years.

Parr did the work on the conversion from the orignal brakes to the six pot calipers and floating discs. Can i just get a set of oem gt3 mk2 discs and are they a straight bolt on or do i need other equipment?

Cheers

They should go straight on as long as the floating Brembos are/were 350mm. If they're bigger diameter, they'll be some spacers between the caliper and the upright which will need removing, no biggy either way smile

Great thank you.

Zimmerman via fvd here http://www.fvd.de/de/en/Porsche-0/928-140-28/-/-/c...996GT3_RS_04-05__997GT3_07-09%C3%98350x34_mm.html
show the mk2 discs at under £300. Seem great value.

Has anyone used these zimmerman discs v oem?

Cheers

They are fine. Good value too with the euro rate. I use them all the time and no issue even do the odd track day.

Don't last as long as brembos or Perf Frictions but a lot cheaper!

I've been using the Zimmermans on my mk2 for years. Plenty of track work included.

Great value and great service from FVD.

But, before you dump those discs, are you absolutely sure that the rattling isn't from the pads in the calliper? My mk2 front pads rattle their tits off. Did with RS29's and do now with PF08's.

Replacing the little top hat things that push into the calliper piston will stop them rattling. But the glue that sticks them to the pads melts after a while especially after track use and then they are back to rattling agin.

If I were you I'd purchase some top hats and try those before going to the expense of swapping the disks.

No need to bother with the sticky top hats, your bells and/or bobbins are toast frown

The top hats, normally called anti squeal shims, go between the piston, inside the calliper, and the back of the brake pad. You can't see tem without taking the pads out.

Having said that, your discs look badly cracked anyway, so get some Zimmermans. You should really change the pads at the same time. So might as well do the anti squeal ahims as well and rule out any possible rattles.

Thanks. I've really liked the pagid rs29s on the car and am minded to order the same again.
Is this still the pad of choice?
I can't remember where i bought them from, best price i've found so far is at dcperformance.co.uk at £392 for the pair (mk2 gt3 size). IS this about right?

cheers

Thanks for that. Whats your view on rear pads - its been so long since i've replaced the pads that i don't know what i've got, apart from the fact that they're yellow - i don't think they're the rs29s though. Oddly the brakes used to squeak like mad until hot but they stopped doing that a year or so ago.

Could be RS 29's or 19's, hence the squealing. If you're not going to be tracking the car from hereon, RS29's in the rear calipers are overkill IMO. I'd go standard from Euro car Parts etc.

Great service from dc performance, they were efficient, called back to confirm availability as they promised, were prompt and polite. Ordered the pagid rs29s - rears at £370. They were happy to do a price match. Recommended. www.dcperformance.co.uk
