Summer '14 Euro Tour pics :)
Discussion
Last summer my gf and I spent 10 weeks or so touring Europe in the trusty 993
We had an amazing time taking in the usual places but also Corsica, Sardinia and Croatia amongst others. The car performed superbly going from 119K miles to 128K miles and when we got back all she needed was a fresh pair of rear Bridgestone S02s, a couple of driveshaft gators and some bumper brackets where we'd clipped part of a gate mechanism on the road due to being on a slope.
As a touring car I think 993s are brilliant. Performance, looks, practicality, not too thirsty and also not so flashy that you're worried to park it in places. We had nothing but positive reactions from everyone.
Anyway, we literally only just around to sorting through all the pics, so I thought I'd post a few of the car ones up here

Superb Mario, I would like to think I could do something similar some day (minus the hat).
Was talking to a friend recently who lives in Tennerife and he was planning a trip from the mainland to Marrakesh however after working out the cost of fuel there and back circa 4k he bottled it.
Something to plan for the retirement maybe.

minus the hat
! The hat was epic!
Actually, it was a bit of a running joke as I *never* normally wear hats but bought it on a whim in Barcelona at the very beginning of our trip for €5
Did save me from very burny forehead / sunstroke several times though I think. It lasted great until I accidentally sat on it 2 days after we got back
After which it had to go and join the window display of the great haberdasher in the sky....Lovely pictures Mario, looks like you had a fantastic time. I did the whole Island of Sardinia a few years back and am yet to find a better place to throw a car around. Also done Venice to Zadar coastal road last year. You managed a sustained 10week stint in a oner, cracking effort, I'm sure you have a few more pictures to entertain us all with though
Another poster mentioned Tenerife: it is also a fantastic place for a PHer, the road from Playa de Las Teresitas to Taganana as good as it gets
ETA: LukeS If you plan on a tour from Tenerife to Morocco I'd be a little wary of Police. I have driven all over Morocco (Agadir, Marrakesh, Nador, Oujda, Essaouira, Fez and the place is riddled with check points.

Aint the 993 just the perfect car to tour in?
Yes sirree
Dare I say it that because it's a Cab I think it's even more suited to touring than the Coupe would be. Yes it loses a little rigidity but being able to drop the roof adds so much to the experience especially when you're in the mountains. We're getting a Boxster GTS with PASM and PDK in July that is being added to the stable also as a touring (and everyday when we don't have to take the dog) car. We're doing factory collection followed by a week or so on another road trip in Europe. It'll be interesting to see how the experiences compare with the different cars. I've no doubt that some of the physical connection/involvement will be lost and there is somethign inherently cooler about touring in an aold car rather than a new, but equally as an all round performer it should be pretty stonking. And truth be told there were times in the 993 when all you wanted was ice cold air con, a soft ride and a gearbox that did its own thing
