Andy,
None of the weekends tie in with the GT's.
Is this intentional?
FFG
It is TVR's intention, yes.
The Tuscans are not running with the GT/F3 package, nor will they have TV coverage.
TVR are returning the Tuscans to a club status for 2006 with reduced costs (engine lease down by £1,000 to £6,000 + VAT, and harder compound slicks to last 3 or 4 races rather than one).
They are also permitting 2 seaters, subject to them meeting safety and technical regs.
Finally they are reducing engine power. They say this is to help convince the MSA that the Tuscans should be reclassified to National B status.
The more cynical amongst you might think that this is actually designed to ensure that the Sagaris is not beaten by a Tuscan.
Naturally I have an open mind;-)

Does anyone remember Donnington 1995? Ian Flux was one of a few drivers using a Rover engine! He even managed to get on the podium against the AJP8's!
However the Rover engine is still in the regulations! Therefore is still allowed to race in the TVR challenge. Therefore a well sorted Rover engined car could be the car to have!
Another Race Tuscan in Pistonheads classified, and...
Just seen this car offered by TVR (Factory) it's for sale with an engine, see;
www.iwantadrive.com
What a lost opportunity to signal to all those who have an interest in running in the new TVR Challenge 2005 that the Factory are really with the program, the advert should have read;
TVR Race Tuscan
Available for TVR challenge 2005
Can be purchased outright or hired for season
Full or partial race support available
terms on request, sensible budget needed.
Dreamers may apply as now a nat "B" series
Please contact JR head of TVR Motorsport

Graham - you won't have spotted it because its not in the regs. The 2004 regs that is, as John hasn't written the 2005 regs yet.
James, as someone who claims to be close to the series, you should know that the only engine permitted in the series for a while now has been the factory supplied (and sealed) TVR Speed 8 - i.e. the AJP8.
Have you ever read the 2004 regs?
John may allow different engines this year - but I think he is thinking in terms of various versions of the AJP (road, race owned and race leased). All will need to be strictly controlled - if Tuscans start racing with significantly different power outputs then the whole beauty of the series - close racing -is lost.

Sorry i forgot the icon... I read the 2004 regs in detail last year when we almost raised the money for a season...
Update on the Tuscan :- Engine and gearbox mounts are made, and the car goes for its exhaust on monday ( back brackly way again !!!). the diff is all mounted. the only bit left to make if the oil pump bracket and some wiring then its
