The rubber strap on my Longines is cracking after 8 years or so and I need another strap. Finding it hard to track one down though. This is my first 'posh' watch am clueless about where to go for a decent strap. Liked the rubber one, but can't seem to find that. Leather otherwise

Do you go for one made by the same company? Do the watchmakers themselves mainly go to one supplier?

It's got to be good otherwise it detracts from the whole experience. Any recommendations? Thanks for the help!

I've bought twice as many straps as watches in the last couple of years because I like chopping and changing. First thing I'd say: google image search for your watch; that's bound to bring up pics of it on different straps.

Second thing I've found is that I have to order from overseas much of the time, though www.thestrapshop.co.uk and www.watchobsession.co.uk are two UK companies I've dealt with. I really like The Strap Shop; they've been incredibly helpful and cheaper than anything else I've bought for similar quality, but they don't offer a massive range.

Once you've found a strap you like the look of, again google it to find comments and pictures because straps do seem to look very similar in web shops but differ quite a lot in reality.

I've just used them for a strap for a Seiko. Decent website, easy to navigate and helpful if you phone them.

Are we to presume you've already asked Longines if they have stock of the strap you're looking to replace?
Even if it's £150-200, for 8 years of use, that's still an attractive option.

I got a few off watchbandcentre.com recently. Cheap, good quality and fast delivery.

Thanks for the replies. Good tip about doing an image search for my watch. I've fired off an email to Longines (not that I expect much back - I've found them previously to be hugely unresponsive)

Good thing about the rubber strap is that (I think) I can resuse the metal Longines branded clasp, so maybe leather strap with hasp holes is the answer. Do such things exist?
