Sorry searching and can't find the definitive answer; did the Boxster and Cayman move to Gen 2 on 59 plates onwards?

Correct. Mine is a Gen 2 on a 09 plate. :-)

Model year 2009; so could be 58 plate - look for a 9 after the fourth Z in the VIN number

Not always the case, my 09 gen 1 (there is also another on ebay at the mo too). Mine is also quite late 09 too but not sure why

There would be very few if any on a 58 plate because they were launched last week in Feb 2009 in the UK at least.
