Does anyone have access to either a pit or lift that I could use as I need to do some work underneath my car. I need to have a quick look first to plan the job and then if it goes ahead it should take about three hours. I can do the work but need a pit or lift to do it.

I'm based in Bournemouth, would travel and will pay.

Any assistance from you guys would be gratefully appreciated.

There is a PistonHeader near me with a pit in his garage, I'll point this thread out to him.

My local garage (Gillingham, Dorset) would let us use his lift after hours / weekends for a small fee.

Hopefully you will find something closer though!

I've got two lifts - a 2.5 and a 2.0 ton.

The 2.5 ton has a long term job on it (Maserati front subframe replacement and lower block repair), but my 2 ton only has a Lotus 7 on it right now.

I'm near Southampton.

Interesting...At some point soon I was looking to give the outriggers and chassis tubes on the S a bit of a spruce up. It would be a bu66er of a job with the car on axle stands. What would you charge for hire of the ramp for, say, an afternoon ?

TIA

I've no idea how much I'd want! I put the lifts in as I'm getting more and more business fixing other people's specialist cars, and less and less of designing aircraft (my main line of business) and it just seemed sensible to put them in.

It'll take me a bit of time to clear the driveway in front of the workshop of cars, and move whatever I have under the lift, so a modest remuneration of my time is all I'd need - make me an offer!

You can use all my air tools as well - they and the lift make a lot of tricky jobs fairly straightforward...

I'm off J7-J10 of the M27.

Mike.

Cheers for the response and the kind offer Mike,

I know an open forum is no place for specifics but J7 - J10 covers about 7 miles of M27 ! I'm less than 5 mins from Jnc 8 so you can't be too far away.

The S has an MOT coming up :fingerscrossed: and unless she needs any chassis work, then I'd be looking to get the underside bits and pieces done before the big TVR S Meet in August.

Let's see how the MOT goes in a couple of weeks and I'll mail you through your profile if thats OK.

Thanks again mate

Neil

On the same subject when I first come on to PH I saw some pics of someone that built a ramp up into his garage so he could almost stand under the car whilst working on it.
Wasn't anyone in our area by any chance was it? I need to do some restoration and would be interested in seeing how you did it and possibly borrowing the wooden ramps you made. I wanna make sure its strong enough!
