Can anybody recommend a talented, value-for-money bike fitter in London? Ideally somebody physio-minded as I still carry the effects of major injuries and all the muscular imbalances and challenges that come with that.

I'd shortlisted Cadence (£150) at Crystal Palace and Cyclefit (£250) in Holborn. I know it's a skill that's really fitter-dependent, so I figure personal recommendations are the best way to judge their value.

Bike Whisperer. He has moved, but still worth the drive.

Hi Gruffy,

I had a bike fit done elsewhere at Pearson cycles in Sheen which was £120 mid-week. I just got the standard on the bike fit. I have had some great cycling specific physio work from this lady to help with my knee issues, and I recommend her for sorting issues that you have once you have had a bike fit:

Not in London itself but just outside any good? Dean t/a Fit Me Up is a chartered physiothearpist turned Retuel master fitter operating in Hertford. £125 if you can make it on a weekday, IIRC. Haven't been myself but have heard good things.

Interesting. I'm occasionally pedalling up to Hoddesdon to see the jeweller there for our wedding rings. £125 is about the cheapest I've found. I like the idea of using the Bike Whisperer but having just given my wallet a pasting on the new bike it's a bit of a stretch.

Had one with Simon Jackson at Cadence a few weeks ago. Have since done an 80 mile ride and most of the niggles/problems I used to get have gone. A few others I know have used him with similar results so I can recommend him & Cadence.

Ten Point at Amersham, very end of the Met Line but worth the journey. It's not cheap but these guys know their stuff, and train other fitters. Very physio minded, and actually took an extra half an hour with me to go through muscle exercises and stretches I could use to get a more aggressive fit once I had settled in to it. Full email report, printout of stack/reach and all other aspects of the fit acheived and advice regarding stretches/strengthening.

They then went to the trouble of picking out bikes of particular geometry that would fit me best (most of which they didn't even supply), and how to acheive that fit. Were happy for me to bring any purchase back to the shop for them to setup.

Scherrit (Bike Whisperer) is only a fraction more than Cyclefit though you'd have to factor in travel costs too. He is thorough and will work with any existing conditions. Sorry, can't help with stuff in London.

Scherrit is the man who helped my friend Stuart become the 24 hour time trial world champion. Go to him.

I used Ben Hallam @ Bespoke. Not sure if he is based at their City or Mayfair branch now though. Very good, wanted to concentrate on position and efficiency (plus had orthotics). Fit was other 2.5hrs with follow up and they also did my cleats again gratis.

Only downside is, you might come of their with 10ks worth of Parlee or I.F.

Movistar fitter Jon Iriberri is giving a talk at Cyclefit Covent Garden on Thursday at 7pm on de-bunking myths. I can't make it sadly but I thought some of you might be keen. Tickets are currently free for the first entrants.
