Any cyclists ever suffered with pes anserine bursitis?
Discussion
Dear all, has anyone ever suffered with pes anserine bursitis? My pain is well below the knee cap and towards the inner part of the top of my shin (the same place as indicated in the link below).

Im currently doing lots of glute and piriformis stretches (very tight), quad and hip flexor stretches and hamstring stretches. I would be grateful for anyone elses experience of this condition and what they did to alleviate/get rid of it.
Thanks

Thanks for the response. Im 44, weigh 75 kilos, would describe myself as pretty fit. I ride a Colnago C59 and without the injury would normally do 100-150 miles a week. I recently had a bike fit done by the Bike Whisperer to ensure there were no bike issues causing this injury. He made some subtle changes, but there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the bike and my fit on it that he could identify at all
Ok - so now we have a better overall picture. However, you will need to go into a LOT more detail to get an accurate picture of your health. Smoker? taking medication, family history of illnesses and all that.. all the usual questions you will be asked.
How long have these symptoms been persisting?
Have you sought any professional advice thus far? anyone examinations done etc?
If you have not yet sought any professional advice, that would be my first port of call. There's no substitute to an actual examination imho.

I had/have it quite acutely, as a result of guarding after a long term knee injury. Mine was/is caused by muscular imbalances and poor tracking.
What caused yours? Was there a specific moment or did it come on gradually?
Whatever you do, whatever us fountain-of-knowledge types tell you, go and see a physio. You've been given a warning that something isn't right and you will thank yourself for having a professional figure out what that is nice and early, before it becomes a bigger problem.

My pelvis is slightly crooked. My right iliac crest is slightly further forward and slightly higher than the left. Usually this isn't an issue. But I'd been doing some hard sessions on my Tri bike on the turbo, and suddenly got pes on my right side.
The cause was simple: my seatpost had slipped down about 2-3cm over time and I hadn't noticed it. Raised the saddle and it vanished very fast.
So for me, saddle too low and too far forward (combo of steep seat angle plus right side of pelvis shifted slightly forward).
Get some ice and Volterol on it in the meantime.
Thanks guys, can I ask where you got the pain that was diagnosed as psb? Mine is below my knee and immediately next to my shin bone where there is a bony patch with apparently nothing there. My physio is not even sure it is pens ansine bursitis as she would expect to see it further inwards.
I have a pal who is a surgeon and he has offered me a cortisol injection which is very tempting (although I recognise I will still need to work hard on stretching afterwards).

You sure it isn't patellar tendonitis?

Trying tracking the "The Doc" down on the health forum he can probably point you in the right direction, he is an ortho knee surgeon.

As I said in my earlier post - if you haven't yet seen a doctor/specialist do that first. Once correctly diagnosed you can the look at treatment to remedy the problem. I would't go to the physio first.
