Just got back from a romantic short weekend away in Southend with Mrs DavidP (first time there for both of us). The poor love has been overworking.

Saturday night....the Maxpower yoofs are out in force. Have a beer or five on the terrace of the Royal Hotel, which is at the top of the fairly steep Pier Hill, which comes off the seafront and goes into the town. It is on the mobile juke box cruising-it-large route. There are all manner of machines about, with varying degrees of bolt-ons and exhausts that used to be wheely bins, but the funniest are the Novas.....they can't get up the hill without changing down a gear One poor yoof had to actually stop and select first.

It got to the stage where I could hardly see through the tears in my eyes. Not laughed that much for years. Good effort Southend.

That's a bit like when we used to play 'Clacton Scaletrix',
Whilst between pubs and on an evening out in that fine town, it was often fun to pick a car each from the selection of locals out and about on the 'circuit' (actually based on Monaco but without the tunnels) then place bets as to who's car will be first to complete one 'lap', especially entertaining if done from the comfort of McDonalds, where the wager of a burger (cheese if you're feeling daring) makes the whole thing that bit more interesting.

Dave
