Assetto Corsa newbie
Discussion
Hi all,
a quick note to say thanks for all your informative and helpful comments, a great resource. Have owned an Assetto Corsa (number 70, manual in black), and it still has the look-back-in-the-car-park factor.
A couple of quickies that I'd appreciate your help on... there was a post about the ERROR suspension warning which has come on, I (a) reconnect battery (b) get shock sensors reset/replaced?? How long (i.e. much) should (b) cost to do at the dealers?
There's an annoying speaker grille rattle from one of the speakers, it's got the 8 speaker jobby. Anyone else had/fixed this issue.
The window winder clicks a bit when lifting the window, is this a sign of something amiss? I use the car in all weathers, and wonder if it's suffered during an icy moment.
Happy motoring....
Mark

Hi Mark,
I cant help on thiese other questions but I can advise on the speaker issue.(Part of my company is Car Audio Retail)
I replaced ALL the Maserati speakers with Apline customs fit and tweeters etc without affecting the overall image of the interior. (keeping the interior as traditional as possible)
The standard of Speakers in the Maserati is shocking considering the overall image & quality of the car.
My Guess is that your speaker has "split" therefore requires replacing .
I would guess Maserati may think that an after market system would be the norm when purchasing such a car. I may be wrong on this statement but it does not add up when you actually see the awful quality of the standard speakers fitted to the cars!
I too had this problem and since replacing the speakers the problem has not arisen.
I could not believe the awful quality of speakers in the Maserati. On par with Binatone I kid you not !
My Solution is to go to your local Audio company and check out their quality of workmanship etc and take a Look at the Apline Custom Speakers etc.
We used a small amount of "MDF" on the rear speakers to provide a more "solid" sound.
Hope this is of help ?
Pete

my error warning light has come on about 3 times, not sure how much to fix as each time it has been something different, 1st a faulty sensor on the actual light, 2nd a faulty shock sensor, 3rd not sure. Didnt seem to make any difference to the way the car drove though. You lucky bu99er! i'd love an ac, any pics ?
Regarding the error light coming on and saying 'ERROR' in scary red letters, the service dept at a dealer informed me that this is either :
a) problem with the suspension
b) nothing - just a warning.
Way to tell the difference is to diconnect and reconnect the battery (you'll set the alarm off when you do this - you ahve been warned! Alarm goes off when you reconnect battery.
On reconnecting the battery, the car should now have the error cleared. If the error isn't cleared, then its off to the dealer time.
Good to hear form another 3200 owner - hope you're enjoying the car - not seen a black AC on the road yet - be good to see you and the car at a ph get together sometime

Thanks Pete/Craig/Mr T,
ERROR light has disappeared after a few extra 'reboot' ignition seconds, maybe something related to getting new Michelins on the back and fitters knocking the sensitive bits? Worth dropping into dealer as mentioned in manual?
As with others car seemed to drive fine.
I'll be looking into speaker upgrades, so any recommendations welcome (will check out your co. Pete), but wanna enjoy a few low cost miles after aforementioned Michelins and new clutch.
Worth the outlay? Oh yes!
Thanks, Mark

like you say, the error is probably just a result of the tyre fitting process, and if the light has gone now there there isn't a problem. If it comes on and stays on despite the extra ignition seconds / battery disconnect _then_ you have to worry!
Also interested in speaker upgrades pete - drop me a mail if you have time?

Stereo seems fine on mine, speakers are clear and cover all the range. It's one of the last 3200 built, but has not had any speaker mod's?
Mines the same - 2002 car - but hey - if theres an upgrade that would stop the stereo distorting at particularly loud volumes then I'm all ears...
