The West Meon Hut has had a change of management.

The new management have decided that their field should be rented out if anyone wishes to have a meet there.

The cost of this will be £200.

That was my point. Seems like excessive greed to be honest- they make a killing on Pub Club days, without adding a further £200 to it...

Exactly there plenty of establishments that would be glad of the business. Hampshire Bowman? Good size carpark?

Maybe they don't want us there?

It would be a shame if we lost this venue, there can't be many places that accommodate the numbers we sometimes get, and surely they wouldn't want to lose the revenue generated on a Tuesday night.

proabaly being rather short sighted... the BBQ was a great idea, to gain them income (much more £200)!

Empress was always a good location with plenty large enough car park.

If the wisper is correct it seems like little gain, no brain!!.
Maybe I should charge them £200 to take the Pub Club there and put it in the charity pot ;-)

But also on the other hand I have been doing my homework and the Empress of Blandings is also
has new landlords who are very happy and willing to accomadate us, and there is even noise being
made about the brewery having the carpark done properly too ;-)

See you all soon

Empress is very good.

The venue at The Meon was good, but food was average and the queue for food and drink was far too long. They insisted on only having one person on the bar!

Indeed it would be a great shame to loose the hut. Empress has worked well in the past or maybe the 7 stars?

Empress probably too far for me on a regular basis, West Meon 10 mins short route or 20mins the twisty way.
I know the staffing issues were a problem, and the main reason they moved on to another pub, as they didn't have any real full time staff for a while. The new landlord has brought 5 staff and retained 2, so should be better staffed now.

Seven Stars may struggle with numbers,as the car park is usually half full mid week, and besides I could walk quicker than drive there, I guess what numbers you lose from here would be gained from down there, but would be a shame if our little convoy doesn't have anywhere local to head out to.

Can't please everyone. The Meon was an 88 mile round trip for me, mostly motorway too. I made most evenings though as it is worth the drive out. Isn't that the point, go for a nice long drive after work then dinner and a catch up with friends. The south coast is a large region, you're never going to please everyone when you have people from Poole and others from Chichester all hoping to attend the same meet!

totally right, its never going to be right for everyone. some want it close by, others a good drive out, i used to drive from christchurch, so a nice journey, but will hope to go to any new venue
