Just noticed my coolant level is low (filled to the part number on the expansion tank) Im wondering if its ok to drive and if I can just use any premixed variety from the gas station to fill it up? Or distilled water?

Don't know which 911 C4S variant you have, but I had a 996 C4S with a coolant leak. The coolant I was given (as a freebie!), as used by the OPC was a standard (pink coloured, if it helps) coolant liquid; also used in Audis (the OPC was connected to the Audi dealership, with shared servicing and parts centres.

Suggest you go to your nearest Porsche or Audi dealer and get a couple of litres from them directly.

Probably the best idea, thanks.

Didn't the PPI highlight this? I'd be wondering where the coolant is escaping.

Unless you 100% know what coolant is in there now, top up with water.

Mixing different coolants is asking for trouble.

Coolant does not just disappear - it is a closed system. You must have a leak somewhere, could be the expansion tank cap seal on the cheap end to rads, pump, etc.
