Hi,
What is the original gearbox for a vixen S4? 4 speed yes but for the model of Ford I am not sure.
Which model Capri MK1 Or MK2 1300, 1600, 2000?
Cortina MK2 1600 or MK3 or Escort Mk1 or Mk2,type 3 or type E? I think the original is a type 3 gearbox close ratio, I have found a 2000E 3 rail is it this model that is the original or can I adapt an other model without modification to the chassis even if I had to change the bellhousing like an escort type E perhaps?
Which box has the better ratio for fast road use and perhaps racing.
If you can help.
And the 5 speed sierra conversion?
Thanks

The gearbox, I think, is the same as on other vixens - the 2000E from the cortina GT. I may, however, be wrong.

The type 9 from the sierra has a longer bellhousing, and needs a little tweaking to fit (or did in an S3), but nothing drastic.

Although the 5 speed is better on long journeys, I think I preferred the 4 speed, but I don't know why...

(I'm sure technical folks will talk about longer ratios, etc., but I'm not one of those).
