Whilst working on my 'red' car this weekend I remember a tip which might be of help.
The rear brake shoe adjusters have a habit of seizing up. To prevent this do the following:
Strip out the rear linings and remove the little adjuster cam followers. Unscrew the adjuster shaft, clean out the threads and fit a now adjuster. Where the body of the adjuster goes through the backplate there is a gap between the backplate and a metal stripwhich is welded to the backplate and through which the end (square) portion of the adjuster sits. Into this space fit the rubber dust cover from a brake slave cylinder, biggest diameter towards the backplate face, and fill it with chassis grease. You have to squash up the rubber a bit to get it in, so the grease stays put. It will keep out the moisture and totally prevent seizure for ever.
