996 Gearbox - slight issue

1998 996 - slight gearbox issue
When cold and only very occasionally, the car pops out of 2nd gear on overrun (never under power). It just happens in traffic queues - slight popping noise and the car is in netural
I am wondering if its:
1) not quite selected properly (is there any adjustment on the linkage or any wear that I should look for)
2) early signs of a gearbox fault (selector, bulk rings etc)
3) user error
4) just a quirk - clearly its been very cold for the last few weeks and the oil will be thick
Any thoughts please - there are no problem when the car has warmed up, no nasty noises in any gear and no other signs of any fault.

Common issue. I don't know if there's anything you can do linkage wise to reduce the rate at which it deteriorates or not, but ask Mike at Sports & Classic (who is the go-to guy Porsche specialists use for 996 & 986S 'box issues), or Baz at Hartech. Both have experience with rebuilding these boxes and also modifying them internally so that they're not susceptible to failing in the same way again.
