Have had my 111R for 10 weeks, had it serviced and it goes like a maniac, or is that I drive it like a maniac. Either way, its the best fun I've ever had driving a car.
Noticed yesterday morning a crack behind the number plate. Its about 3inches long in the middle of the section immediately behind the number plate. The obvious assumption is that something has hit it ,but I havnt hit anything and there are no marks on the number plate, not even the dirt is scuffed. Has anyone else had a similar issue, because I was wondering ifs it a flaw in the strength of this section.

Not noticed anything or read anything about this but I am fairly new to the Elise. You don't think it could have happened whilst it was being serviced?

Wasnt there after the service. Definately happened in a 24hr period, prior to yesterday morning. Drove to work Thu morning it wasnt there. Got car out of garage Fri morning and there it was. It bears all te hall marks od someone hitting it. But with no marks on the car it just doesnt make a lot of sense

Had the same problem.Parked it one morning, got back and noticed a 1.5 inch crack at the same point.Again,no evidence to support a hit but no other explanation.Have covered the crack with Carbon fibre which i cut to match the anti chip coating shape and made it bilateral so looks ok. Just watch were i park these days as the car is so low at the front that people reverse park and don't see the car until its too late.

yep - had the same on my S2 both front and rear....sams as yours front and the time at the rear it went in for service, no obvious damage but then noticed both mounts for rear diffuser cracked....someone had bumped the rear in a car park etc...thats the probs with not having bumpers that can withstand 'being brushed' in a car park...i bet the driver of the other car wouldnt even notice/feel a thing

Yes this is common damage as mentioned people dont always see the front end of the car as it is so low. Some people do it themselves without realising (ie bumping into a wall)

The clam is designed to give but will crack if it is pushed enough.

Most people just put up with it and cover it up with their number plate! (or wait untill they have a real accident and then have it repaired )
