How common is PSE on a 996?

How common is the OE switchable sports exhaust in 996s? I'm looking to buy a car in Switzerland and can't find a single one that's got one. Is it possible it wasn't offered in every country?

Hmm, it's possible. A friend lived there and told me his 3.2 had different ratios to other markets due to noise.

It was only available from the 3.6 model onwards 996 anyway, but can be retro-fitted to a 3.4 (such as I have). I only ever switch it off to exercise the valves and make sure they don't seize, so if it was my money I'd happily go the "Gundo hack" route.

I do the same to keep the valves working. That and to warm the boxes through properly!

I hadn't thought of that, I should probably do the same. I only switch it off and then straight back on again.
