I've got a new Kermit!

In the beginning, there was a big, V8 estate, and it was bright green, so it got called Kermit. From there, also, came my user name.

Then the V8 got sold, and replaced by an altogether far too sensible S-Max, and I didn't have a Kermit any more.

But, having bought a new full susser just before Christmas, and having decided I'd never get back anything worthwhile for the newish components on the old one (wheels, rear mech) and the perfectly serviceable other bits, I decided to find a Hardtail frame to build up something new, and behold..... A new Kermit has been born!

OK, I haven't got to ride it yet, but it's bright green, and even with a new headset and gear cables, it's still cost me less than £300 all in, so I'm happy!



Phoning up the nice lady at the home insurance company to tell her I wanted to add a Handjob to my policy was an interesting experience though!

Nice bike that, I saw a similar Cove frame for sale the other day and quite like the bright green Orange Fives you can get.

I've got a Kona Howler which is a similar bright green which gets a reasonable amount of attention.

Oh that sounds interesting, I spotted it on Pink Bike, actually thinking about it I saw a Stiffee not a Hand Job.

It has to be said Cove do have some cracking bike names, hand job , stiffee, G-Spot and STD are a few I can think of.

Nice bike, but hate the cove names, just imagine it's beavis and butthead sniggering in the board room at any thing that can sound rude, fad to thing if they made a saddle what they would call it.

The more I look at it, the more I think it deserves some new grips. Those ones started out red!

Looks ace, hooligan hardtails are still great things to ride. Could be worse too, you could have had to tell the nice lady at the insurance co that you had a stiffee....

Just weighed it. 12.9kgs, which I reckon is pretty good, considering the frame is steel, the brakes, bars, crankset, forks, shifters, saddle and stem are all the best part of 10 years old, and it has a triple and a dropper post.

Agreed, just too teenaged for me. Like the no-one "Phaart" lights. Grow up.

I agree, but unfortunately my research process just inevitably ended up with this frame!

If you look at the frames they make now, I suspect they realised that if they wanted to sell to people with proper money, they'd need to grow up a bit in their naming choices, so whilst they still have the G-Spot and the Foreplay, the Hustler, Hummer and Shocker are somewhat more sedate.
