I know the topic has been done to death but If you're buying a manual car, get a specialist to pull the diagnostic data to check for over-rev readings and any other anomalies. I presume the main Porsche dealer will do this for me can anyone confirm please .

All very easy for OPC and good indys to check mate. I am not sure if I am totally correct on how it goes now but used to be anything in RR 4 and a compression test is needed if you want the car to have an OPC warranty. RR 5 and 6 its pretty much curtains for that although I think I read that even if it has recorded a RR 6 but it was over 200 operating hours ago then it can still be considered..(happy to be corrected on that).
Couple of other things...there was a good thread on here recently about a guy with a 997TT that suffered from 'rev flair' on start up. Was something to do with a sensor I believe and this was recording on RR data and an OPC confirmed this by tests. Not sure if it became a recall but quite costly to be sorted as its an engine out job for a relatively small fix.
Finally I was also told something I didn't know recently by a chap called Ken at 9e who knows tons about this sort of thing that if the car has had a DME or ECU remap, this creates a 'count' on the car's brain and OPC's can or should then record this against the VIN no.
