Cold weather screwing my knees up on commute?

I've noticed the past two days that when i reach my destination on my commute I seem to get a mild pain/sensation in my knees when walking. Can only assume that its because its gotten closer to freezing temps. Does anyone else seem to get this issue? I'm not an old fart either (27). I tend to cycle in jeans. Inital thoughts might just be to layer up a little with some thick jogging bottoms over my jeans. My commute isn't that long either, 15minutes over 3miles.
Thoughts?
