Garmin cadence sensor measuring half actual

My GSC 10 reads fine then suddenly shows half the actual value before reading zero and then back to normal. Any ideas?

Four months old, aligned correctly and the unit on my other bike works with no problems with the Garmin 510.

When I said aligned correctly, I may have been a bit wrong. Alignment checked and static tests appear improved. I'll do a ride tomorrow and double check. As you were!
