I have been victim to new electronikery going wrong on my Ducati and also an early model Q5.

It's a service bulletin, not a recall. Your OPC will do it as a matter of course when your car's next in with them. Along with a few others...

I'm dropping into OPC Solihull on Thursday to get it done, 1 hour wait if the 'puters don't crash (?), but they have done quite a few already apparently?
