Dead frame?

I bought a frame off ebay with the intention of a new xc hardtail build. Frame was in rough cosmetic shape, but seemed okay structurely. Unfortunately just got these pictures from the powdercoaters...



Is it dead?

wouldn't have said dead, looks like a rock strike. Saying that, wouldn't want to be riding it too aggressively

Is that a Stiffee frame?

I assume that was filled and painted over on ebay?

Personally, for what HT frames go for these days, especially "old" 26" ones I'd go for something else the one in the seatstay looks especially deep and given the abuse a HT takes I'd bet a crack will form in the base of it soon enough, I don't suspect catastrophic failure - but why risk it?

It's a 2008 Kona Kula Deluxe - £40 on ebay. Was excited that I had bagged a bargain. Now I know why....

Edited to add - yes was fine when handed to powdercoaters, they confirmed that there was a LOT of filler. I'm collecting it tomorrow to see the extent of the damage as it is not just limited to those in the picture (although they are the worst).

I was in my LBS a few days ago, and they had a carbon frame in the workstand which had completely snapped off just behind the head tube. It was just dangling by the brake cables!

Apparently the bloke got distracted and rode into the back of a stationary car!!

I assumed they'd just got it on the stand to strip off the components, but they said that apparently the frame manufacturer - Look, iirc - claim to be able to repair any frame, so they were sending off photos to check!!!

Easily solved.

An 'Aswad' is when you see a fine fine body on a female walking down the street and then you clock their face and wish you hadn't so it's a 'Don't turn around' AKA Body of Baywatch Face of Crimewatch. A Ten Pinter.

Anyone see 24-hours in A & E the other day, bloke lost his nose due to crashing into a parked car, only had been riding a week poor bugger
